A simple road check ended dramatically in Paris. A cyclist died Wednesday evening after being struck by a motorist fleeing the police, we learned from a police source.

Around 6.30 p.m., police officers in the car wanted to check a motorist. When the police got out of their vehicle, the motorist fled, according to this police source. Pursued by the police, the fugitive's car then struck a cyclist at the intersection of Boulevard Raspail and Boulevard Montparnasse in the 14th arrondissement of Paris. The cyclist died. The motorist was arrested and taken into custody.
