Ling Yueming said that since the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Natural Resources has held numerous party group meetings and special meetings to make research arrangements for the prevention and control of earth disasters and marine disasters. From January to July, a total of 3,047 geological disasters occurred nationwide, resulting in 103 deaths or missing. Compared with the average of the previous five years, the number of deaths this year has dropped by 42%. June and July were periods of severe flooding. There were 2,368 land disasters nationwide, resulting in 80 deaths and missing persons, a 29% decrease from the same period last year.

The ministerial party group and the ministerial conference will conduct research and deployment on geological disaster prevention every month. In addition, according to the rain conditions, the Ministry of Natural Resources held 5 special geo-hazard prevention and control video dispatching meetings in 5 areas to enhance the pertinence and timeliness of geological disaster prevention and control work.
