The first theft coup occurred at a scrap yard in Nyköping around midnight. A security guard saw a group of people behaving strangely and becoming suspicious. When police were called, the group fled. Four of them escaped while a fifth, a man in his 30s, could be arrested.
An inspection of their car revealed that it was fully loaded with what is suspected to be stolen copper.
An hour or so later it was time again, this time in Eskilstuna. A car with two men and a woman was stopped for vehicle inspection. Police suspect that the boat engine the trio was transporting in the back of its flatbed was stolen. Therefore, all three were arrested. Men are in their 30s and 60s and women are in their 40s.
