Israel and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to normalize diplomatic relations.

US President Trump held an unscheduled press conference and announced that the two countries had agreed to normalize diplomatic relations after 49 years.

The UAE is the third Arab country to normalize relations with Israel, after Egypt and Jordan, and is the first country in the Gulf region.

The UAE announced that Israel had agreed to halt the merger with the West Bank of Palestine, a region of long conflict, but a few hours later Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu revealed that he had never made such a promise.
