Since August 9, the Jersey government has placed France in the `` orange '' category - FRILET / SIPA

French travelers to the Channel Island of Jersey must now undergo a quarantine of at least five days and two PCR tests for Covid-19, the government of that territory has said. Since August 9, the Jersey government has placed France in the “orange” category, the countries being classified in three colors (green, orange and red) according to the evolution of their health situation.

For French travelers, this new provision involves being screened on the island, via a PCR test on the first and fifth day of their arrival, and isolating themselves until negative results are obtained. It is only on this condition that they will be able to move freely. Children under 11 are not affected.

Two PCR tests

“The French will therefore have to isolate themselves at their hotel for at least five days, and probably even seven since they will have to wait for the results of the second test. Tests made abroad are not considered valid for countries in the orange category, ”said the Tourist Office of Jersey, a territory of the British crown which is not, however, legally part of the United Kingdom. United.

Hotel rooms may be made available to quarantined travelers, but the latter must, with some exceptions, pay accommodation costs. Fines of up to 1,000, or even 10,000 pounds (1,100 to 11,000 euros) are provided for offenders.

Travelers who refuse to be tested will have to undergo a 14-day isolation. Non-French travelers arriving through France also have twelve hours to transit until their arrival in Jersey.
