The victim reported being insulted, called a "dirty Jew, dirty race" and beaten up by two men who then stole a luxury watch worth 10,000 euros. 

The Paris prosecutor's office opened an investigation last week for "aggravated theft" and of an anti-Semitic nature, after the violent attack on a Jewish man which arouses the indignation of political leaders, we learned from the prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

This father named David had lodged a complaint Thursday, reporting having been insulted, called a "dirty Jew, dirty race" and beaten by two men who then stole a luxury watch worth 10,000 euros. The assault took place in his parents' building in the east of the capital, where the man had come to pick up his daughter. "He said he was strangled several times and then was pushed down the stairs and lost consciousness," said a police source.
It was the young man's father who had discovered him in the stairwell, worrying he would not see him arrive.

The investigation, entrusted to territorial security, was opened for theft with violence, in a meeting and because of the religion of the victim, said the Paris prosecutor's office. The man was wearing a kippah at the time of the attack, according to Sammy Ghozlan, president of the National Office for Vigilance Against Antisemitism (BNVCA), which unveiled the case and intends to take legal action. "All my support for David and his family, victim of a violent and odious anti-Semitic aggression, these acts and these words have no place in Paris", reacted on Twitter the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo, among several reactions policies.

"Once again anti-Semitism is expressed violently in the streets of the capital: a 29-year-old man was severely victimized in the 19th. His attackers filmed by video protection, I hope they will be quickly found and severely punished ! ", wrote for her part the president of the region Valérie Pécresse.
