Anneli Olsson fell ill at the end of April with a high fever and cough, she isolated herself in her workroom, where she normally cuts film. When the sense of smell disappeared, she realized that she could have suffered from covid-19. But what she thought would be over in a couple of weeks developed into something completely different. After more than 100 days, she still has a fever, while other symptoms have appeared and then disappeared.

Over time, she has become so weak that she has moved to the balcony, where she keeps her body cooled down.

- It is a strange condition because it is not just an organ but there are different systems in the body that give strange symptoms, she says.

Forced to use walker

On several occasions she has sought care and been admitted to hospital, but the samples she has taken have not given an answer to the cause of the symptoms. Doctors say there was a strong suspicion of covid-19. During the summer, she has had difficulty walking and now has the help of both a walker and a wheelchair.

- I get relapses where I really dip, then I find it difficult to move and I become enormously sluggish. It's like waking up in the middle of the night and performing.

Inspired by Greta

But despite her problems, Anneli Olsson wants to raise the issue of long-term sick people. Inspired by Greta Thunberg, she intends to go to Mynttorget in Stockholm and sit as much as possible. In order for her to be strong, her husband has had a bed rebuilt where she can rest.

- I have a permit three days a week for a month and I intend to be there as much as I can, she says.

She also wants to raise money for research for people like herself, who have suffered from various covid symptoms.

- A fantastic side effect would be that there would be money that can be distributed to projects and ideas that can be useful to us long-term sick.
