The municipality of Kristianstad writes in a press release.

- It creates better conditions for schools to handle measures that are necessary to reduce congestion in the premises and spaces that risk such, for example in corridors, school canteens and living rooms. In addition, it reduces the pressure on commuter traffic, says school principal Mattias Olsson.

The background to the decisions is the current pandemic and the risk of increased spread of infection, which is judged to remain high for some time to come.

The students get to sleep in the morning

In order to further reduce the spread of infection via commuter traffic, the school head has decided to postpone the start of the school day.

- From 20 August, students will start no earlier than 9. This is because the pressure on commuter traffic is strongest then, Mattias Olsson continues.

The school principal also reviews the issue of school food and looks at solutions for how the students during the weeks they study at a distance, should be able to pick up food at a nearby school.

Without a call in the auditorium

There will be no traditional appeal in the auditorium when the autumn term starts on 19 August. All to avoid large crowds.

- We always comply with the Swedish Public Health Agency's recommendations and the situation can change quickly. Not all schools and programs have the same conditions and exceptions to my decisions may occur. As a student and guardian, you get more information from the responsible principal. Then it is important that everyone takes their responsibility to reduce the spread of infection, concludes school principal Mattias Olsson.
