“In total, more than two thousand people were detained throughout the country, including for participation in unauthorized mass events,” the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus said.

According to the ministry, on the night of August 10-11, "focal gatherings of citizens were observed in a number of cities, the most massive in Minsk, Brest, Mogilev and Novopolotsk."

It is noted that as a result of the clashes, 21 employees of the internal affairs bodies and a serviceman of the internal troops were injured, five of them were hospitalized.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that in Minsk and Novopolotsk, law enforcement agencies actively used "special means to suppress illegal actions."

On the eve of the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus Olga Chemodanova said that one person from among the protesters had died during the confrontation with the special forces in Minsk.
