Donald Trump was abruptly escorted out of the White House press room by the "Secret Service" responsible for protecting him, Monday August 10 at the end of the day, after a shooting occurred outside the fence surrounding the presidential complex .

The US president, placed in the Oval Office for a while, returned to the room a few minutes later and said law enforcement fired at an individual. He added that the suspect had been taken to hospital and that, according to information he had, he was likely armed.

"Safe"

"Everything seems totally under control (...) But there was a shooting, and someone was taken to hospital. I do not know the state of health of this person", declared Donald Trump. No one else was injured during the shooting, he said. "It may have had nothing to do with me," added the head of state.

"Shaken? (...) The world has always been a dangerous place. It's not something special", replied the Republican to a question from a journalist. “I feel safe with the Secret Service. They are fantastic people, the best of the best,” he said. Donald Trump then resumed his press conference focused on the pandemic and the US economy.
