A 61-year-old man has been injured after lightning fell on him , when he found an umbrella in the garden of his home in Torrelodones, according to Emergencies 112 from the Community of Madrid.

The event occurred around 10:40 am this Tuesday on the perimeter of a villa, located at number 3 Cieza Street in that town.

A Local Police patrol, a Summa-112 Mobile UVI and members of Civil Protection have traveled to the site.

The beam entered through the man's right hand, which was holding the umbrella, and exited through the left leg, at the level of the scrotum .

The man's injuries are of a moderate nature, although he has third degree burns in the area where the beam came from.

He was treated on the spot and transferred by Summa 112 to the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda.
