“It is already obvious that not everyone in the country agrees with the announced preliminary election results. And, as you know, any legitimacy arises exclusively from public trust, ”he said.

According to him, Ukraine calls on Belarus "to maximum tolerance, tolerance and rejection of street violence."

“We call for the most open, albeit difficult, dialogue. Because only a broad dialogue will allow the citizens of the Republic of Belarus to get out of a difficult crisis situation and honestly discuss further steps and formats of social interaction, ”Zelensky said. 

In his opinion, "only mutual understanding between all parties is capable of preserving the country's independence and ensuring its further movement towards freedom and democracy."

On August 9, protests were held in the center of Minsk, in which those who disagreed with the results of the presidential elections in Belarus took part. The security forces used water cannons, stun grenades and tear gas to disperse the protesters.

Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus said that the situation with the mass protests in Minsk is under the control of law enforcement agencies.
