Alexander Lukashenko secured his sixth term after winning yesterday's elections in Belarus. Since he was first elected in 1994, not a single election has been approved by foreign election observers.

During the evening, thousands of people gathered in the capital Minsk to protest the election result.

- This may well show in some way that it is a bit shaky for President Lukashenko. Parts of the people are starting to lose patience after these 26 years that have now passed, says SVT's correspondent Bert Sundström.
