This was reported by the press service of the head of state.

“President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, received a written letter of resignation from Prime Minister Hassan Diab today at the presidential palace in Baabda,” the statement said.

During the conversation, Aoun and Diab discussed the current situation in Lebanon.

Earlier, the Lebanese prime minister confirmed that the country's government is resigning in full force.

On August 8, clashes took place in Beirut between protesters at an anti-government rally and police officers.

The protesters demanded the resignation of the Cabinet, accusing officials of corruption, which, in their opinion, led to the explosion in the port on 4 August.
