10 August 2020 "Following the new provisions, FlixBus Italy is unfortunately forced to cancel scheduled trips for almost 5 thousand passengers". It is the low-cost passenger transport company that explains that the cancellations are, in their opinion, linked to the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers of 7 August 2020 regarding the new provisions on on-board spacing.

Flixbus states that "it is contacting the passengers affected by the cancellations, in order to offer an alternative travel solution (if available) or reimbursement as soon as possible", but underlines a differentiated treatment regarding anti Covid obligations: " On board their buses, air recirculation takes place with filters and a technical equipment equal to that of airplanes (for which the derogation from on-board social distancing has been confirmed) with the addition of a constant air exchange with the 'outside, there are no frontal seats except in very few cases, the availability of which is already limited, and regular stops are scheduled on the long routes ".

"More than anyone - declares Andrea Incondi, managing director of FlixBus Italy - we have respected from the beginning every provision of the Government in order to guarantee maximum safety for passengers and workers and we will do it again this time, we will try to reduce the damages for the our customers, but the inconveniences will be inevitable. But this is imposed on us and we responsibly want and must adapt to the new guidelines. However, we ask for clear and consistent indications: we transport millions of people, and it is impossible for anyone to organize a service transport if the rules change every two weeks ". 

The Codacons foresees "enormous inconvenience for travelers, forced to resort to alternative solutions and put their hand to their wallets" and asks that the rights of consumers be fully guaranteed, with automatic ticket refunds, fast and without obstacles or complex procedures.
