The figures for the coronavirus epidemic in the United States continue to climb. On Monday, the country is expected to exceed 160,000 deaths and could even reach 300,000 deaths by next December. Donald Trump minimizes the scale of the situation and emphasizes the decline in cases in certain states.

In the United States, the coronavirus epidemic is far from under control. The country has just crossed the 5 million case mark overnight from Sunday to Monday. A continuous progression that contrasts with the denials of Donald Trump who, in the middle of the presidential campaign, minimizes the situation.

More than 2,000 deaths in 24 hours

Press conferences follow each other and look alike. "In the United States, more than 80% of local reports show a drop in cases. We are doing a good job. You do not often hear that in the media," said the American president. A few weeks before the presidential election, Donald Trump, who had come to recognize the seriousness of the epidemic, knowingly lies and is constantly contradicted by both the experts around him and the WHO figures.

The country has a million more cases in just two weeks and the numbers are not going down. More than 2,000 dead in 24 hours, the highest daily figure since mid-May. Hospitalizations are decreasing in 18 states but in 26 others, the most populous, cases are increasing.

300,000 dead by December?

The start of the school year does not help the situation. In the state of Georgia, 260 students and eight of their teachers have been infected with the coronavirus and their college has already closed its doors.
