US Minister of Health and Welfare visited Taiwan. This is the first visit of a high-ranking U.S. official after establishing diplomatic relations with Taiwan in 1979. Today (10th), I am scheduled to meet Taiwan President Chai Ying-won, who is anti-Chinese, so it seems that China's backlash will be strong.

plane carrying the US Minister of Health and Welfare Aiza arrived at Songshan Airport in Taipei yesterday afternoon.

Secretary Aiza is the highest-ranking U.S. person who has visited Taiwan since the United States broke up with Taiwan in 1979.

Earlier, the U.S. ended diplomatic relations with Taiwan when establishing diplomatic relations with China in 1979, and then, conscious of China, no officials above the ministerial level visited Taiwan.

Minister Aza said the purpose of the visit is to confirm cooperation in the public health sector, including the prevention of COVID-19.

But in reality, the Trump administration's interpretation of China's pressure use prevails.

The U.S. is strengthening exchanges with Taiwan and increasing arms exports to Taiwan as part of a hard-line route to China.

Minister Aiza today meets Taiwanese President Chai Ing-Won, who is anti-Chinese.

China, with its “one China” principle, has expressed strong opposition to Aiza's visit to Taiwan.

He warned that the Taiwan issue is the most sensitive issue in US-China relations.

[Wang Won-bin/Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China (Last 5th): China firmly opposes any official contact between the United States and Taiwan. This position is consistent and clear.]

Depending on the level of China's response, the conflict between the US and China could reinforce.
