  Since August, heavy rainfall has continued in many parts of South Korea, and the disaster-stricken areas have expanded from Seoul and the central region to the south and other places. As the rains continue, the Korean forestry department has raised the landslide warning to the highest level in all areas of the country except Jeju Island.

  South Korean President Moon Jae-in also announced on the 7th that seven areas of the country that have been hit by heavy rains will be designated as "special disaster areas" in order to use the central budget to maintain the livelihoods of the victims and support post-disaster reconstruction.
