According to RIA Novosti, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe noted that Japan has an important mission - "to lead efforts to promote the concept of a world free of nuclear weapons."

At the beginning of the ceremony in Nagasaki Peace Park, wreaths and tubs of water were brought to the monument to the victims of the atomic bombing.

At 11:02 (05:02 Moscow time) - the time when a 21 kiloton atomic bomb exploded over the city - a minute of silence was announced.

On August 6, Japan commemorated the victims of the atomic strike on Hiroshima.
