“The Government, the Administration of the Leningrad Region with deep regret announce the death on August 8, 2020 of the head of the representative office of the Governor and the Government of the Leningrad Region under the Government of the Russian Federation, Andrei Alekseevich Kovalev,” the government said in a statement.

As the Governor of the Leningrad Region Alexander Drozdenko noted, Kovalev worked in the Administration of the Leningrad Region for almost twenty years, and since March 2019 he headed the regional representative office under the Government of Russia.

“A courageous, courageous man, infinitely devoted to his Motherland, to his work, a man who was sincerely loved by everyone who was lucky enough to know him, serve, work with him, passed away,” he said.

On July 31, it became known that the former mayor of Kaliningrad, Yuri Savenko, had died in Moscow at the age of 59.

Savenko was the mayor of Kaliningrad from 1998 to 2007.
