Today, there are already 20 pedestrian crossings for cyclists in Helsingborg. According to a six-year-old law, cars must give cyclists priority at such pedestrian crossings, in the same way as for pedestrians.

Now another 20 pedestrian crossings have been provided with a sign indicating that cyclists have priority. They are not least placed at all new constructions and conversions.

Became safer

According to the municipality, it gives results.

- We see a big difference in the flow of traffic in the areas where we have had bicycle crossings for a long time. There it becomes clear that motorists, cyclists and pedestrians take greater account of each other. It increases safety for everyone in the area, says Magnus Nilsgart, traffic engineer at the city building administration in a press release.

Cyclists that SVT Helsingborg met are a little more careful in their reviews.

- I do not really see the finesse of having two different signs for cyclists and pedestrians. It creates confusion, says Simon Pettersson.
