Like many French municipalities, Paris and its region will make the wearing of a mask compulsory. The measure will come into force Monday at 8 a.m. and will affect all people over 11 years old.

This decision was taken on the basis of the health recommendations formulated by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Ile-de-France, adds the press release from the prefectures concerned. And this while the indicators point to a resumption of the circulation of the virus in the Paris region. The rate of positive tests today reaches 2.4% in Ile-de-France (Paris and its region) against 1.6% on the national average, reports the press release. “  The incidence is particularly high among 20-30 year olds. It is also stronger in Paris and in the departments of the inner suburbs (Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne, Hauts-de-Seine), as well as in some municipalities of Val d'Oise  ”, is he precise.

The areas affected by this measure will be subject to regular assessment. They are therefore likely to change in the coming weeks depending on their attendance and the evolution of the epidemic.

Tuesday, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo had asked that the mask be mandatory in several frequented sectors of the capital including the Seine quays, open markets and, possibly, near train stations.

Long presented as "  useless  " by the French authorities, the mask became compulsory in public places closed on July 20. For a week now, the prefects have been authorized to impose it outside “  when local circumstances require it  ”. Since then, many cities have already implemented it. This is particularly the case in Nice, Rennes, Lille, Marseille, or La Rochelle.
