They explained that the installation of license plates with new sizes and shapes may be required for drivers from Japan or the United States.
In this case, the numbers of the new dimensions should be installed only at the rear of the vehicle, and signs of the standard size should be preserved in front.
On August 4, a new national standard for license plates came into force in Russia.
In June, the chairman of the Russian Motorists' Movement, Viktor Pokhmelkin, in an interview with Vzglyad proposed to abandon the region code in the license plates.
