This year, the highest temperature was measured in June, and it was Skellefteå that accounted for that feat with 34 degrees. Then came the unusually cold July.

But now it is turning again and the heat wave, like the one in June, is coming back - at least for a few days. The temperature can namely show up to just over 30 degrees in some parts of the country, and it gets especially hot in Skåne and Blekinge.

Highest temperature this year?

- We usually call it high summer heat when it is over 25 degrees. Expect it to be hot and dry. And the question is whether it can be the highest temperature this year, says Pererik Åberg, meteorologist at SVT.

The highest temperature ever measured in August is 36.9 degrees and when it was measured it was in 1975. But that the temperature would rise so high this weekend is not likely.

- Not this time. The right special conditions are needed for such high temperatures to occur. I do not think we will break the August record this weekend. But it may come later in the month, I do not know.

The heat wave is expected to ebb out during Sunday and the beginning of next week in most of the country. But up north, the temperature change looks to be all the more abrupt, with a drop to around 20 degrees on Monday.

Can get hot in September too

We are in the last month of summer. The question many are now asking: is this the last high summer heat for this year?

- It is difficult to say anything about it. On the one hand, we have only come a little bit into August, there are quite a few days left. In addition, it is not entirely uncommon for it to get hot in September as well, says Åberg and adds.

- I can not directly say very clearly that it, yes, it is the last high summer weather. Without I would say that there is a chance that the heat can come back.
