According to the Swedish Midwifery Association, interest in giving birth at home is increasing. In some counties there are midwives who can assist with home births, but there is no organized home birth care in Sweden.
In Västmanland, there is currently no available midwife available.
- There are quite a few women who want to give birth at home, says Kaj Wedenberg, chief physician at the gynecology clinic in Västerås.

- Yes, this is a free country, so of course you have to do it. But that's not something I want to advise.
