With at least 213,120 deaths, this region exceeds Europe, which has 212,660 deaths, according to a report established at 17 hours GMT.

Brazil heavily affected 

The two regions concentrate six deaths out of ten recorded in the world. In the past seven days, 44% of the world's deaths have been recorded in Latin America and the Caribbean (around 18,300 for a total of 41,500).

The region is also the one with the most cases of infection, with more than 5.3 million infections, mostly in Brazil (2.9 million cases, nearly 100,000 deaths).
