Electricity was cut in the Presidential Salon of Honor at the airport in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Thursday, while French President Emmanuel Macron was received by President Michel Aoun.

A video broadcast by an Arab channel broadcasting from France documented the embarrassing moment of the blackout during the exchange of Macron and modern Lebanese officials in the honorary salon.

The channel was talking about the explosion that shook the capital, while simultaneously showing pictures of Macron's arrival at the airport and its reception by Lebanese officials.

Lebanese singers considered that the power outages while receiving Macron informed the world about corruption in the country.

Macron arrived in the Lebanese capital Thursday noon, and stated at Beirut airport, "Today's priority is to help and support the people without conditions. But there is a demand that France has made for months and years about necessary reforms in several sectors."

He referred in particular to the electricity sector, which is considered the worst among the mainly worn out infrastructure facilities, and the state treasury has incurred more than $ 40 billion since the end of the civil war (1975-1990).

The explosion came in the midst of an unprecedented stifling economic crisis plaguing Lebanon and among a popular curse on the entire political class, which accuses officials of impotence, corruption and failure.
