To mitigate the effects of the massive explosion that occurred at Beirut Port last Tuesday, a number of charitable societies in Qatar launched a relief campaign under the title "Lebanon in our hearts".

The campaign aims to collect what the Qatari community provides to the Lebanese and turn it into relief materials covering the areas of health, shelter, food security and other non-food items, and reconstruction.

The Qatar Charity Society anticipated the campaign by sending urgent relief teams for rapid intervention and distributing relief materials to those affected by the explosion, which left at least 135 dead and 5,000 wounded, and caused great damage in several residential neighborhoods, which led to the displacement of about 300 thousand people.

It was not 24 hours since the explosion, until the Qatar Charity teams were in the heart of the Lebanese capital to distribute food and hot meals.

This intervention will include health aspects such as treating the wounded, providing medical devices and equipment, and medicines for hospitals, and providing shelter requirements such as mattresses, blankets, and home rents and restoration for those who have become homeless.

Faisal Al-Fahaideh, Assistant CEO of the Operations and International Partnerships Sector at the Assembly, expressed Qatar's full solidarity with the Lebanese people in this ordeal, expressing his confidence that the Lebanese people will emerge from this crisis stronger and more coherent thanks to its solidarity, help and brotherhood.

Urgent call Al-
Fahida added in an interview with Al-Jazeera Net that Qatar Charity will be in the field with all its capabilities to provide aid and assistance, whether it is medical and food or providing shelter for those who lost their homes and extending aid to all Lebanese to get out of this disaster.

He explained that Qatar Charity launched an urgent appeal under the slogan "Lebanon in our hearts" in cooperation and partnership with the Qatari Red Crescent and the Qatar Media Foundation under the supervision of the Charity Organization, calling on the benevolent to interact and contribute to the relief of brothers in Lebanon.

For his part, the Qatari Red Crescent announced that the "Lebanon in Our Hearts" campaign aims to collect donations in the total amount of 50 million Qatari riyals, to provide urgent needs and assistance to the injured and the afflicted.

To reduce the negative effects of this disaster on the Lebanese people, the Qatari Red Crescent seeks to implement urgent relief projects that include emergency shelter, treatment, food aid and support services to save the lives of 300,000 injured and distressed people in Beirut.

Stages of intervention
The intervention plan that the Qatari Red Crescent intends to implement is divided into 3 phases:
- Urgent response: in which food will be provided and temporary accommodation for the affected families, and health facilities will be strengthened for the benefit of 55,000 beneficiaries.

Medium-term response: 25,000 people receive monthly food needs and cash assistance to families, in addition to repairing damaged homes.

- recovery and capacity building: include this stage to raise the efficiency of health services, and medical capacity building, and awareness - raising for the benefit of 300 thousand people.

It is noteworthy that relief and humanitarian institutions in Qatar have been launching campaigns to raise funds for the benefit of those affected in the Arab and Islamic countries.

The "Aleppo Labia" campaign was the largest in this field, as it collected more than 300 million Qatari riyals in 2016 in order to relief the Syrian city.
