This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the capital.

"A criminal case has been initiated against a 43-year-old resident of the capital, who committed a road accident that killed a 40-year-old woman," the department said.

The case was initiated under Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Violation of the rules of the road and the operation of vehicles").

According to the police, on the evening of August 5, a car hit two women at a pedestrian crossing on Bataysky Passage, one of them died, the other was injured. The police noted that the driver was drunk.

Earlier, State Duma deputy Vasily Vlasov, in an interview with Inforeactor, commented on the accident in Crimea.
