“In five regions, the activities of 25 persons involved in the modernization of civilian weapons into combat analogues, in the manufacture of ammunition in underground workshops and their sale in the country were suppressed,” TASS reports.

As noted, the activities of 12 illegal workshops for the modernization of weapons and the production of cartridges were terminated.

The special operation was carried out in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Belgorod, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions.

“116 units of military and civilian firearms with restored combat properties of firearms have been withdrawn from illegal circulation,” the department said.

On August 3, the FSB reported on a major operation to suppress the activities of clandestine gunsmiths.

Thus, 42 people were detained in 12 regions.
