Finnish Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas will stay with Mercedes in 2021, the German team said in a statement Thursday.

This will be the 5th year for Bottas at Mercedes, a team that has won all the world championships, driver and manufacturer, in this discipline since 2014.

The 30-year-old Finn is currently teaming up with six-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has yet to renew his contract with Mercedes expiring at the end of the season.

"I am very happy to stay with Mercedes in 2021 and build on the successes so far," Bottas said in a statement.

Born in Nastola (Finland) on August 28, 1989, Bottas started his career at Williams in 2013 before moving to Mercedes in 2017. He finished 2nd in the World Championship last year, 5th in 2018 and 3rd in 2017.

He has won eight victories, all with Mercedes, and is currently second in the provisional world championship standings after four events, 30 points behind Lewis Hamilton.
