The beaches in Zandvoort, Bloemendaal, Noordwijk and Katwijk are very busy, the various municipalities warn on Thursday.

In Zandvoort and Bloemendaal it is difficult to keep a distance of 1.5 meters. This can lead to unsafe situations, according to the municipality of Bloemendaal on Twitter. "Anyway to the beach? Take full parking spaces and crowds in the train and at the station into account."

It is also busy on other beaches. Including in Noordwijk, where all parking spaces are full. Katwijk calls on people to stay at home. "It is getting too busy at the moment. That is why we call on everyone to stop coming to Katwijk today," said the municipality.

Due to the heat wave, the NS will use extra trains on the route from Amsterdam to Zandvoort in the coming days. The two direct trains from Amsterdam Central to the sea were always overcrowded last Friday.

At Amsterdam Central, Haarlem and Zandvoort station, extra employees will try to "fill the trains as optimally as possible".

The coming week will be very hot in the Netherlands. On Thursday, RIVM activates the National Heat Plan, with which the institute warns of the risks that the heat can entail. This also counts as an appeal to pay extra attention to each other.
