A number of Western countries have supported the candidacy of acting Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for the post of NATO Secretary General. France spoke for him, noting that this Dutch politician is experienced, knows how to form “very broad coalitions” and is able to act in the interests of the collective security of the alliance.

Rutte is the clear favorite among other candidates because he is supported by the United States. According to analysts, Washington considers him more manageable and logical in his actions than other candidates.
