Half the city was destroyed and for every step taken, the sound of broken glass is heard.

- It's a little dangerous to go there now. Glass falls down so you have to check all the time. Yesterday a building collapsed. I did not have a helmet yesterday but now they say that everyone should have it, says Maria Haddad.

"Cleans up government mess"

The otherwise lively and bar-filled streets of the Gemmayze and Mar Mikhael areas have been completely destroyed.

- Everyone helps and it feels very sad. We are literally cleaning up the government's mess, says Maria Haddad.

After Tuesday's incident, Maria Haddad feels afraid for the future and is starting to think for the first time whether she should leave Lebanon.

- If nothing changes and if those in power do not resign, I'm not sure if I want to stay.
