According to the office of the President of Ukraine, “the heads of state discussed in detail the issues related to the detention on the territory of Belarus at the end of July of a group of persons belonging to the private military company of Wagner”.

The importance of further effective interaction of the competent authorities of the two states was noted, in particular in the context of the transfer of persons to Ukraine who participated in the hostilities in the Donbass.

“I hope that all suspects of terrorist activities on the territory of Ukraine will be transferred to us for prosecution in accordance with the current international legal documents,” Zelensky said.

On July 29, the state Belarusian news agency BelTA announced the arrest of 33 Russians in Belarus. On July 30 it became known that the detainees were suspected of preparing riots.

The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin expects that the Russians detained in Belarus on the night of July 29 will soon be released.
