In Italy, Civil Aviation (Enac) threatened on Wednesday the Irish company Ryanair to suspend its authorization to fly in the country. In question ? Failure to comply with the safety rules imposed due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Enac explained in a statement having written to Ryanair and "informed at the same time the competent Irish authority, of the repeated violations of the anti-Covid-19 health regulations currently in force and imposed by the Italian government to protect the health of passengers ”.

Passengers to be rerouted

"Not only is the obligation of distance between passengers not respected, but the conditions allowing derogating from this distance are also ignored", affirmed the authority. Enac emphasizes that if "a new non-compliance with the obligations provided for by national regulations is observed, it will be forced to apply the provisions of the navigation code".

This would amount to "imposing the suspension of all air transport activities at national airports, asking the carrier to ensure the re-routing of all passengers already in possession of tickets". Italy was the first country in Europe to be affected by the epidemic, which killed more than 35,000 there, but seems for the moment under control.
