Organizations and countries have announced the killing and wounding of a number of their citizens and the staff of their diplomatic missions in Beirut as a result of the bloody explosion that occurred in the seaport of the Lebanese capital.

The public prosecutor in the French capital, Paris, said that a preliminary census allowed the identification of 21 French citizens injured in the explosion.

He also announced that the wife of the Dutch ambassador to Lebanon was seriously injured and was taken to the hospital directly, and a Dutch Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the explosion severely damaged the building and also injured four others.

The Russian embassy in Beirut also mentioned, through a statement, that the embassy building was damaged, and a female employee was slightly injured when windows were shattered by the explosion.

The embassy of Kazakhstan also reported in a statement that the ambassador was injured (she did not mention how serious it was), and parts of the embassy building were damaged in the explosion.

United nations

In a related context, Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for the United Nations Secretary-General, announced in televised statements that 48 UN staff members, 27 family members and 3 of their visitors were injured as a result of the Beirut bombing, without giving further details about the nationalities of the victims.

In turn, the UN peacekeepers in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that some of their personnel were injured (no number was mentioned) as a result of the explosion.

UNIFIL said in a statement that as a result of the massive explosion that rocked the Lebanese capital, one of the ships of the Maritime Task Force that docked at the port was damaged, and some of its members were injured, some of them in serious condition.

Arab and Asian

For its part, the Egyptian embassy in Beirut said in a statement on its Facebook page, that one of its citizens, Ibrahim Abdel Mohsen Al-Qaffas, was killed in the explosion.

The embassy indicated that Egyptian citizens informed her of the disappearance of their Egyptian colleague Rushdi Rushdi Ahmed El-Gamal, explaining that he was near the site of the explosion.

For its part, the Moroccan embassy in Beirut reported that a Moroccan citizen (whose name has not been released) working for a United Nations organization in the Lebanese capital suffered foot fractures as a result of the explosion.

The embassy said in a statement published by the official Moroccan news agency, that the injured citizen is receiving treatment at a Lebanese health institution.

The army in Bangladesh confirmed the injury of at least 21 Bengali naval personnel from the multinational forces in Lebanon against the background of the explosion, explaining that one of the injured is in a serious condition and is currently receiving treatment in Lebanon.

An Indonesian citizen was slightly injured after the explosion while he was in stable condition, according to what the Indonesian embassy in Lebanon announced today.

The explosion caused about 135 deaths and more than 3 thousand wounded, according to the latest death toll, in addition to huge material damage in many neighborhoods of the capital and its environs.
