The 'Francescon' company in Rodigo (Mantua), where a coronavirus outbreak is active, had hired some workers in May and the owner of a set-up and logistics company forced to close due to the economic crisis caused by Covid. "Every year we employ hundreds of people - explained the owner, Bruno Francescon, to the microphones of Telemantova - ours is not a striking gesture, but a fortune for us". There are 97, according to what reported by Ats Valpadana and the councilor for Lombard Welfare Giuilio Gallera, the positive workers, three of them have mild symptoms, the others are asymptomatic.

The new cluster was identified after the report of a family doctor who had a patient with febrile symptoms swab. The screening conducted in the company, which was founded in 1968 and became a leader in the watermelon and melon market, revealed the positivity of 97 people, now in isolation, out of 172 workers examined. Investigations are underway on the other 250 employees, which should be concluded today, involving the doctors of the Usca of Mantua, Suzzara and Viadana. All the positive workers were employed in the packaging and shipping service.

Serological tests in the Lower Seriana Valley: 41.8% positive
The serological tests conducted during the screening campaign in the Lower Seriana Valley, in the province of Bergamo, were 41.8% positive . According to the Councilor for Welfare Giulio Gallera, "22,559 serological tests were carried out during the campaign. The withdrawals gave negative results in 57.8% of the cases; 8,979 were processed on subjects who tested positive at Covid-19 swabs (with 154 coronavirus positive, 1.7% of those tested) ". The negatives are 57.8%; the share of overall positivity is 41.8%, while the remaining 0.4% is doubtful. The swab was carried out on positive subjects, which gave a weak positive result for 0.4%, negative for 97.9% and positive for 1.7%.

"The outcome of the search for traces of coronavirus through the swab - adds Gallera - has shown that only a share equal to 1.7% of the 8,979 tested has traces compatible with an ongoing infection". "Among the three centers most affected by the Covid 19 epidemic, Nembro has a serological positivity of 48.8%; Albino 42.6%; Alzano Lombardo 34.8%. These values are proportional to the impact of Covid 19 on these common during the epidemic. A significant part of this population under investigation has already been subjected to previous serological investigations, with positive results reaching 62% ".

The greatest number of positive subjects (43% of the total) is between 55 and 74 years of age. The relative share of positivity for the individual age groups generally shows an increasing trend from 45 years upwards; the younger ages (18 to 24 years) express an equally significant share of positives (45%). The percentage values of the classes at the extremes (18-19 aa and 95-99 aa) are partly influenced by the lower quantity of subjects who joined the survey.

"The data that emerged - comments Massimo Giupponi, general manager of the Health Protection Agency of Bergamo - are useful to better understand what happened and therefore allow us to plan the future not on the basis of impressions or partial data, but on the basis of of a validated methodology and tools A heartfelt thanks goes to the Municipalities, the ASSTs and the Mario Negri Institute who collaborated in the realization of the survey.

The networking carried out on such a vast territory as the Lower Seriana Valley (and in a period certainly not easy for citizens to participate in) has also made it possible to test an organizational machine that becomes a heritage of our territory, particularly important in forecast of the Autumn Emergency Plan which will need the collaboration of all those who have skills to put in place ".

The quotas of positivity relating to the adult population of the Municipalities of the Valle Seriana area - comments Alberto Zucchi, director of the Corporate Epidemiological Service of Ats Bergamo - show how the high rate of contagion that occurred in this area of the province of Bergamo created a situation in to which, in particular for the age range 55 to 79, there is a significant share of the immune population (even if they do not yet know the duration of the immunity status determined by exposure to Covid 19) ".
