August 05, 2020 "We must continue to observe the three essential rules: the spacing of at least one meter, the use of masks and hand hygiene". Health Minister Roberto Speranza said so in response to a question in the House on the reintroduction of anti-Covid distances on rail transport. These rules "must necessarily be respected in all indoor places". "Exceptions are possible", according to the indications of the Technical Scientific Committee, said the minister, as "happened in the case of air flights".

"We are among the European countries that have best managed to keep the incidence rate of the epidemic low, now equal to 5.7 per 100,000 inhabitants according to the European ECDC. This was possible thanks to very harsh measures, due to the sense of citizens' responsibility and respect for three essential rules, including the interpersonal distance of one meter and the use of masks, together with hand hygiene ".

"Hence the decision to restore the obligation to maintain the distance of one meter on trains by order last Saturday," said the minister.

"The terms of this ordinance will also be confirmed in the next Dpcm that we will approve - added Speranza -. The containment rules must always be adopted, subject to the exceptions allowed by the Technical-scientific Committee for airlines on flights, where the mode of exchange of air allows you to travel safely even without distancing. We will work with the Regions to continue to carry on this battle with a view to homogeneous measures ".
