Russian MiG-31 intercepted a Norwegian Air Force plane over the Barents Sea

This was reported at the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation.

“On August 4, Russian air control systems over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea detected an air target approaching the Russian state border. To intercept the target, a MiG-31 fighter was raised from the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet on duty, ”RIA Novosti quotes the agency as saying.

From a safe distance, the crew of the Russian fighter identified the Norwegian Air Force Falcon 20 electronic reconnaissance and electronic warfare aircraft.

After turning the reconnaissance aircraft, the Russian fighter safely returned to the home airfield.

On July 31, a Russian Su-27 fighter intercepted a US Navy radio reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
