“Firstly, the CEC of Russia did not receive the traditional official invitation from its Belarusian colleagues, which is sent in advance in accordance with the existing bilateral cooperation agreement of June 4, 1998,” TASS quotes the head of the Russian Central Election Commission, Ella Pamfilova.

She noted that Russian observers are usually part of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) mission, which will not travel to Belarus this year either.

According to Pamfilova, the Russian CEC will also not send its representatives as part of the CIS observation mission.

The sixth presidential elections in Belarus will be held on August 9.

Earlier it was reported that the PACE, despite the invitation of the Belarusian side, will not send observers to the upcoming August 9 presidential elections in Belarus.
