China News Agency, Moscow, August 3 (Reporter Wang Xiujun) The Russian Ministry of Defense announced on the 3rd that the Russian Navy has begun to conduct the "Shield of the Seas-2020" military exercise in the Baltic Sea.

According to sources, more than 30 warships of various types, as well as naval aviation, coastal defense forces, air defense forces, and marines participated in the military exercise. In the first stage of the military exercise, the Russian warship completed its sailing and mine countermeasures missions, and then deployed in designated areas in the Baltic Sea.

According to the news, the participating troops are carrying out a number of subjects including air defense, attack, and anti-submarine. During the exercise, participating troops will also perform the task of launching anti-aircraft missiles and artillery.

The Russian Ministry of Defense did not mention the start and end time of the military exercise.

According to news from the Baltic Fleet Press Service on the 3rd, under the framework of the "Shield of the Sea-2020" military exercise, the Fleet Marine Corps conducted a beach landing operation in Kaliningrad. During this period, minesweepers and engineering units first carried out minesweeping on the coast. After that, 25 armored personnel carriers carrying marine assault teams landed with the support of fleet fire.
