François de Rugy, LREM deputy for Loire-Atlantique and candidate for the presidency of the LREM group in the National Assembly, admits "errors" one year after his resignation from the government. "I resigned from the government to favor the collective interest of the President of the Republic, of the government, of the majority," he adds.

Former Minister of the Ecological Transition, forced to resign by the revelations of Mediapart on his lifestyle and sumptuous dinners at the Hôtel de Lassay, François de Rugy is now a candidate for the presidency of the LREM group in the National Assembly. The deputy intends to succeed Gilles Le Gendre during the parliamentary days of September 11 and 12. The former majority leader announced his departure last July, weakened by internal criticism and the departure of several majority deputies.

"I recognized errors, I paid elsewhere and especially at the time I withdrew, I resigned from the government to favor the collective interest of the President of the Republic, the government, the majority ", explains François de Rugy. "It is not so common in politics to prioritize the collective interest over their individual interest, but I believe that this is a quality for the presidency of a group in the National Assembly".
