On August 4, a powerful explosion took place in the Lebanese capital near the port. The Jordanian Seismological Observatory has determined that the explosion is equivalent to an earthquake of magnitude 4.5.

The authorities declared Wednesday, August 5, a day of mourning in memory of the victims of the explosion.

According to the latest data, the explosion in Beirut killed at least 70 people.
