The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had a meeting with his Emirati counterpart Abdullah bin Zayed on Sunday through video technology.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry indicated that the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Tehran and Abu Dhabi and developments in the region, and stressed the readiness of the two countries to enhance cooperation between them in various fields.

Zarif said that some parties may take advantage of the current situation in the region to strike security and stability in it, and that neighboring countries should work to ensure security and stability.

The Iranian foreign minister, in a tweet on Twitter, described his conversation with his Emirati counterpart, friendly and frank.

Zarif added that he agreed with Abdullah bin Zayed to continue the dialogue on the Iranian Hormuz Peace Initiative in light of the sensitive circumstances the region is going through, stressing that the region will face more difficult options in the future.

For its part, the Emirates News Agency reported that the two ministers discussed the developments of the Corona virus pandemic and the enhancement of international cooperation to overcome its repercussions.

The Iranian and Emirati ministers had a telephone conversation last March, during which Abdullah bin Zayed expressed Abu Dhabi’s support to Tehran in the face of the Corona pandemic.
