That accidents with mopeds are increasing is something SVT has reported on earlier, most recently this weekend a girl under the age of 18 died in Stockholm, after a police car collided with the moped she was traveling in.
Rides in the trunk
The police in Kungsbacka tell SVT Halland that it happens that young people drive with passengers in the tailgate to get more people in than the cars are made for.
- There are some, just like with ordinary mopeds, who are not really mature enough to stay in traffic and have a license. Trimming occurs and above all that you travel significantly more than intended, they put people in the trunk, which is deeply unfortunate, says Daniel Figueras, police inspector in Kungsbacka.
Explosive increase in mopeds
At the same time, Daniel Figueras says that the number of young people who own mopeds has increased explosively in Kungsbacka and that the passenger compartment can give the driver a false sense of security.
