Liverpool football club is close to signing Algerian defender Issa Mandi, the Real Betis player who expires next year.

According to press reports in England, the contracting with Mandy is among the priorities of coach Jurgen Klopp, who seeks to strengthen his team's defense after the departure of the Croatian Diane Lovren to Zenit St. Petersburg.

Liverpool is seeking to use the Algerian player's presence in his last year with Betis to negotiate the value of the deal, because the Spanish club is forced to sell it instead of losing it for free after the expiration of his contract at the end of next season.

The value of the penalty clause in the Algerian defender's contract is estimated at 30 million euros, but the Spanish club may be convinced to sell it for about 10 million euros.

Mandy, 28, plays in the middle of the defense or on the right side. He joined Real Betis from the French Reims Stadium in 2016, played 95 games for the team and scored 4 goals. He also won the African Cup of Nations 2019 in Egypt with the Algerian national team.
