03 August 2020Eusebio Di Francesco is the new coach of Cagliari: the former Sassuolo, Roma and Samp coach has reached the agreement that binds him to the rossoblù club until 30 June 2022. The arrival of the new coach is expected for this morning.

The end of the Zenga adventure had been announced on the eve of Milan-Cagliari. And now there is the official. Born in Pescara on September 8, 1969, he wore the shirts of Empoli as a footballer, with whom he made his Serie A debut at the age of 18, Lucchese, Piacenza, Ancona, Perugia. Champion of Italy with Roma in 2001, he collected 14 appearances and a goal with the senior national team.

His coaching career began at home in Abruzzo: first in Lanciano and then in Pescara where in 2010, after reaching the play-offs, he won promotion to Serie B. In June 2012 he began his long and profitable experience with Sassuolo : from the historic promotion to Serie A in 2013 to the surprising qualification for the Europa League 2016-17. Then Rome: in his first season in the Giallorossi he finished third in the league, qualifying for the Champions League.
