The number of patients with Covid-19 hospitalized in intensive care has increased by 13 cases since Friday, breaking with the downward trend observed since April, and 29 new deaths have been recorded, according to a statement Monday from the Directorate General of Health (DGS).

The number of people hospitalized in intensive care stood at 384 patients on Monday, the DGS reporting 29 new admissions in the last 24 hours.

Ile de France, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Hauts-de-France and Guyana account for 68% of patients in intensive care, according to the press release.

The number of patients in intensive care had already increased by one person last Thursday, which was the very first increase seen since April 9, before falling again the following day.

Regarding the new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in the last 24 hours, only 556 have been listed, which is less than the days of the previous week.

France had 5 new clusters (outbreaks) on Monday since Sunday, but 432 clusters have been closed.

The death toll from Covid in France amounted to a total of 30,294 on Monday, including 19,779 in hospitals and 10,515 in social and medico-social establishments, the latter figure dating however from July 28 and to be updated on Tuesday.

The DGS reiterates its instructions: "favor small groups, equip yourself with masks for the general public and hydroalcoholic gels, prefer outdoor spaces, ventilate the premises, activate (the application) Stop Covid, protect the most fragile".

"If the RT-PCR test is positive, isolate yourself strictly at home, respect the distances, wear a mask, wash your hands regularly, quickly warn your friends, relatives, work colleagues", specifies the DGS.
