Xinhua News Agency, Los Angeles, August 2 (Reporter Gao Shan) After judging that the eight soldiers who had disappeared during the previous training had little chance of surviving, the US military announced the end of the search and rescue operations on the coast of California on the evening of the 1st.

The First Expeditionary Team of the US Marine Corps said in a statement that after 40 hours of large-scale search and rescue covering more than 1,000 square nautical miles, the military judged the missing 7 Marines and 1 Navy based on the circumstances of the accident. The soldier was basically unlikely to be successfully searched and rescued, so the search and rescue operation was terminated.

According to the news previously released by the First Expeditionary Team of the United States Marine Corps, an amphibious assault vehicle carrying 15 Marines and 1 Marine entered the waters of San Clemente Island, California during daily training on July 30. The water sank, resulting in the death of 1 Marine Corps soldier, 8 missing, and the rest were rescued. Among the rescued, two seriously wounded are still receiving treatment in the hospital.

After the incident, the US military sent helicopters and ships to search and rescue. According to reports, the focus of the U.S. military will shift to finding the remains of missing soldiers and investigating the accident.
